Sudah beberapa bulan ini hidup saya sebagi penglaju menjadi lebih bervariasi. Kalau biasanya saya hanya menjadi penglaju antara Cibubur, Bekasi coret ke Kuningan, Jakarta, beberapa bulan ini rute bertambah menjadi Cibubur ke Bandung. Kadang Cibubur ke Kuningan lalu ke Bandung.
Saya ke Bandung untuk kerja. Iya, kerja. Buka laptop, baca inbox email yang gerakannya mirip running text vertikal, balas email, ketik ini itu, terima sms, terima telpon, terima WA, terima office messenger, diskusi dengan bos…and my list goes on and on. Semua yang saya lakukan di kantor di Jakarta sana, ya saya lakukan di Bandung, plus tambahan kerja lainnya yang tidak perlu saya kerjakan di Jakarta. Di Bandung, saya harus jadi manusia koper, kalau istilahnya Pakdhe Mbilung. Tinggal di ruangan 3×4 meter. Makan-makanan hotel 3x sehari ditambah snack dan kopi 2x sehari yang tentu full gula, garam, dan kolesterol. Walau fitness center dan kolam renang terjangkau dalam hitungan langkah kaki dan pencetan lift, saya jarang bisa mengunjungi mereka saking kegiatan saya dimulai jam 8 pagi sampai jam 6 sore.
Minimal saya berada di Bandung selama seminggu dalam sebulannya. Kadang dua minggu. Kadang… gimanakalausayapindahrumahajasekaliankesanadotcom saking terlalu rutinnya aktifitas melaju (eh, kata kerjanya penglaju kan melaju ya?) ke Bandung. Di Bandung, saya enggak akan sempat ke mana-mana. 5×24 jam muter-muter aja di sekitaran hotel yang dipakai sebagai tempat kerja. Kebahagiaan terbesar saya setiap kali harus bekerja di Bandung adalah bila Papap dan para Kunyils memutuskan untuk menjemput saya di hari terakhir bekerja. Kesedihan terbesar saya setiap kali harus bekerja dari Bandung -selain komentar ‘kamu gendutan’ tiap pulang dari Bandung- adalah video call tiap malam dengan Aiko yang biasanya berisi pertanyaan Aiko, “MAMAM KAPAN PULAAAAANG?”
Jujur saja, sesekali bekerja ke luar kota bisa sangat menyegarkan. Bisa mengembalikan perspektif akan kehidupan dan kesibukan kantor yang mulai terasa monoton. Tapi, bila sudah menjadi rutinitas, buat saya, bukan lagi penyegaran. Ya jadi biasa aja. Malah kalau bisa lebih memilih tetap di rumah.
Sayangnya banyak orang berpikir setiap kali kita disuruh bekerja di luar kota, mereka pikir kita bersenang-senang. Bebas dari pekerjaan. Bisa jalan-jalan. Makan enak. Dibayar pula. Mereka lupa pekerjaan yang harus dilakukan saat bekerja di luar kota justru 2x lipat: pekerjaan rutin di kantor asli dan pekerjaan tambahan yang menyebabkan kita harus ke luar kota itu. Kalau sudah begini, saya memilih posting foto-foto bahagia di Facebook. Biar tambah bikin kesal đ Lagipula, untuk apa pajang foto sedih dan menderita? The world could use some smiling faces.
Sekarang ini, setiap kali saya melihat orang menjinjing laptop ke mana pun dia pergi -apalagi sampai ke suatu hotel cantik yang sedianya lebih cocok untuk liburan, saya justru kasihan dengan dia. Seperti yang saya alami dan rasakan, ketika bekerja sudah pindah tidak hanya di kantor asli, ketika itu juga me-time menjadi berkurang. Maka, benar kata Bos saya, “don’t be happy when the office gives you a laptop and a cellphone. It means you have no excuse not to work 24-7 for them.”
Right now, all I can do is to count my blessings and my weight gain.
